The Antwerp City hall is the beating heart of Antwerp politics, it was built in the 16th century. Architect Cornelis Floris de Vriendt chose a unique combination of a traditional style with innovative elements from the Italian Renaissance.
In 1936, the building was officially recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is gorgeous!!! View huge colorful murals which tell the story of the important port city.
There is so much to see including the room where the Mayor of Antwerp and all the ministers hold their meetings. Before the renovation, this was still a cluttered set of corridors and rooms. On the upper floors, also radically altered, the mayor, aldermen and cabinets have their offices. There you will also find the famous Trouwzaal (Wedding Hall) and Wandelzaal (Long Gallery), along with the meeting rooms for the board and City Council. Following the Tour the City of Antwerp will host a reception for our group with drinks included.
