Have you ever thought what it would be like to work for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) in countries far away from your place of birth or what you are comfortable with?
Join Marjan Peeters, a “flying” microbiologist with the Belgian and Swiss sections of Doctors Without Borders, as she shares her experiences in microbiology and humanitarian work, including stories from her field missions.
The session will include:
About Marjan: My name is Marjan Peeters; I am working with the Belgian and Swiss sections of Doctors Without Borders (MSF). Before joining MSF in 2021, I spent six years at the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, focusing on education, research, and capacity building in bacteriology laboratories in low-resource settings.
A key goal of both my past and current projects has been to improve knowledge and strengthen surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). For Médecins Sans Frontières – Operational Centre Brussels, (MSF-OCB), I implemented the first bacteriology “Minilab” in Maiduguri, Nigeria. In addition to this project, I also support laboratories in Guinea, Afghanistan, and Zimbabwe.
